When your baby is teething, he or she will often be irritable throughout the day as well as fussy during the night.
Generally, teething will begin when your child is approximately 6 months old however teething can occur even earlier. Some babies start teething as early as 3 months and some begin as late as 12 months.
When your child reaches 3 years old, your baby will probably have all 20 primary teeth and any teething symptoms will subside.
When the baby’s teeth start breaking through the gum, you will probably notice the lower front teeth growing in first. Generally, the upper front teeth tend to grow in 1 to 2 months later.
Symptoms of Teething Baby
Once your baby is teething, you may notice that he or she is fussier than usual. This is usually due to soreness or swelling under the gums before the eruption of a tooth. You may notice these symptoms 3-5 days prior to seeing a tooth in your baby’s mouth. The teething symptoms may settle as soon as the tooth breaks through the gum line.
Many babies will look for comfort, or some method of relief due to the pressure in their gums by biting on their fingers or even toys. You may also notice they refuse to eat and drink. This is normal and often because their gums are uncomfortable
You may notice your baby is drooling more than usual, this is another symptom of teething.
