One of the most common dental complaints in our office is tooth discoloration. There are two common types of tooth discoloration – extrinsic and intrinsic.
Intrinsic discoloration occurs when the inner part of the tooth called the dentin becomes stained by something happening inside the tooth. It is often difficult to treat and may require the placement of veneers or crowns.
Extrinsic discoloration is often easier to treat using whitening techniques either at home or with a visit to your dentist.
There are various reasons and causes for tooth stains and discoloration including the foods/drinks that we consume, tobacco use, poor dental hygiene, some medications, and even the patient’s genetics can cause tooth discoloration.
If you have concerns about the colour of your teeth call us to book an appointment so we can get your smile looking perfect again!
