Wisdom teeth are at the back of the mouth; they are the third and final molars that grow in late in the teenage years or early twenties. If these teeth grow in properly, they are fine but sometimes they are misaligned and require removal due to pain or discomfort. When a wisdom tooth is not properly aligned this can mean that they are growing horizontally, and can be crowding or and impacting neighbouring teeth. The wisdom tooth itself can also be fully or partially impacted and may be susceptible to infection, tooth decay or gum disease if left untreated.
